Solid PCBN cutting tools, which eliminate the cemented carbide substrate, are manufactured directly from fully sintered polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN). While sacrificing some fracture toughness, this structure provides significantly higher rigidity, enabling superior machining accuracy. They are particularly suitable for continuous ultra-finishing of cast iron, hardened steels, and superalloys.
In addition, solid PCBN can be precision ground on multi-axis CNC grinding machines, allowing the direct formation of complex geometries, including rake angles, clearance angles, and helical flutes, to meet advanced tooling design requirements.
Our solid PCBN blanks cover a grain size range from 1 μm to 15 μm, with CBN content ranging from 40% to 90%. The series includes the F-series for general-purpose applications and the H-series for enhanced wear resistance, suitable for continuous and interrupted roughing to finishing of cast iron, hardened steels, and superalloys. The blanks are available with diameters exceeding 55 mm, featuring a uniform, defect-free structure. Standard inventory is readily available, and both the PCBN thickness and overall blank thickness can be customized. According to customer requirements, the blanks can be cut into any insert geometry for delivery.
