Solid PCD cutting tools, which eliminate the cemented carbide substrate, are manufactured directly from fully sintered polycrystalline diamond blanks. While sacrificing some fracture toughness, this design provides significantly higher rigidity, enabling greater machining precision. They are particularly suitable for continuous finishing of non-ferrous metals and difficult-to-machine composite materials.
In addition, solid PCD can be precision ground on multi-axis CNC grinding machines, allowing the direct formation of complex geometries, including rake angles, clearance angles, and helical flutes, to meet advanced tooling requirements.
CYC solid PCD tool blanks cover a grain size range from 1 μm to 35 μm, including the F-series for general-purpose applications and the H-series for enhanced wear resistance. The blanks are available with diameters exceeding 55 mm, featuring a uniform, defect-free structure and a mirror-like surface finish. Standard inventory is readily available, and both the PCD thickness and overall blank thickness can be customized. According to customer requirements, the blanks can be cut into any insert geometry for delivery.
