Ultra-thin-layer PCD cutting tool blanks typically feature a PCD layer thickness of 0.1–0.3 mm. The extremely thin diamond layer reduces the mismatch in thermal expansion coefficients between the diamond phase and the cemented carbide substrate, while also minimizing interface stress accumulation during synthesis. This significantly improves the dimensional stability of the insert and enhances its resistance to micro-chipping.
In addition, after precision grinding, the ultra-thin PCD layer enables the formation of a cutting edge with an extremely small edge radius and exceptionally high geometric accuracy, delivering mirror-finish machining performance during extended continuous finishing operations.
CYC ultra-thin-layer PCD blanks cover a grain size range from 1 μm to 35 μm, including the F-series for general-purpose applications and the H-series for enhanced wear resistance. The blanks are available with diameters exceeding 55 mm, featuring a uniform, defect-free PCD layer and a mirror-like surface finish. Standard inventory is readily available, and both the PCD layer thickness and overall blank thickness can be customized. According to customer requirements, the blanks can be cut into any insert geometry for delivery.
